There are 546 school systems in our state. The New Jersey public school system is among the top five public school systems in the USA. We must take care to protect that asset. People move to New Jersey so that their kids will have an excellent education. Employers know they can expect to get well educated workers if they come to New Jersey. With that said, as with municipal consolidation, we are certain that there are some redundancies in the administrative area that could be eliminated without affecting the quality of the educational experience of the students.
The public school system affords every child in New Jersey an education that is far superior to the average US school system. As good as it is, there are opportunities to continue to improve that level of quality. In general, I do not believe in school vouchers that take resources away from the public school system and enable people to opt into private schools.
